New Beginnings in New York City

Wow, 1L year starts in less than 10 days... I took a one-way flight to NYC in the end of March, so it's been almost half a year here - unbelievable, time sure does fly! I've always been a city girl but NYC is my favorite now. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area made me adamant about moving out east for college, and Boston had my heart as soon as I visited my school's urban campus - being able to conveniently hop on the T to head downtown for shopping, food, or exploring was a bonus. Following graduation, I experienced working in Boston's Financial District for a while, which was great, but I felt like I needed a change... you know, do the whole I'm-young-and-want-to-explore-more type of thing. Plus, the timing was on point; I was in the middle of working on my law school applications so I narrowed my focus to NYC schools... after choosing the right fit, I prepped for the big move, and lo and behold, I am now a New Yorker!!! *cheesy grin* With any change there can be ups and downs (ahem, apartment hunting, ahem), but overall it's been amazing here. While my first summer in NYC is coming to an end, I am so excited to start 1L year. Convocation is on the 20th, then orientation, then classes. Torts, Criminal Law, Civil Procedure, and Legal Research/Writing are in the lineup... lots of reading and learning, and of course, having some fun in this incredible city - cheers to new beginnings! :)
